Tower Place, London
|Status||Completed in 2002|
|Practice||Foster & Partners|
This 59,000 m2 headquarters office complex for developer Tishman Speyer Properties and occupier Marsh & McLennan was completed in 2002. The building takes an innovative approach to energy efficient design utilising displacement ventilation from full access floors throughout. The overall configuration is of two triangular plan form office buildings connected by a vast glazed atrium which creates a semi-enclosed landscaped piazza and reinstates historic city walkways across the site. The sloping topography of the site results from the historic position of the pre-medieval river bank and allows for the discreet introduction of a coach station and car parking beneath. The low-rise profile and sleek curving roof-scape allow for the opening up of a dramatic view from The Monument to the Tower of London.
